From 6 to 10 September, a “Sensemaking Workshop” was held within the framework of the Gipuzkoa Deep Demo, where different stakeholders discussed about potential actions that would allow the territory to advance towards sustainable development. In this sessions, different departments of The Gipuzkoa Provincial Council (Department of Strategy and Economic Development) took part, as well as key agents of the territory, such as BRTA (Basque Network of Science, Technology and Innovation), Climate-KIC, with the participation of Kirsten Dunlop (CEO of Climate-KIC), Debagoiena 2030, Orkestra, Arantzazulab and Agirre Lehendakaria Center.
Workshop’s main objectives were:
- Analyze from a learning perspective the portfolio of Etorkizuna Eraikiz, leading us towards a greater experimentation and focus on sustainability. This analysis involves identifying and defining which initiatives are operating, on which areas, and exploring new opportunities for further action.
- Explore initiatives and agents that are working in these areas of opportunity at a global level.
- Conduct training sessions on the methodology to promote the shared understanding of all the agents involved in the platform.
The analysis portfolio is based on 3 axes: 1/social cohesion, 2/decarbonization and 3/social adaptation, and gathers the initiatives according to the 5 impact levels: 1) community initiatives, (2) small and medium scale, (3) large scale, (4) services and (5) regulations. This provides us with a three-dimensional and transversal perspective from which a large-scale transformation would be promoted in Gipuzkoa.
After the analysis, four preliminary thematic areas were defined from which we could follow the process from a “mission” point of view.
