International Seminar on Digital Environments and Law
On November 13 and 14, ALC participated in the International Seminar on Digital Environments and Law, held in the Salón de Grados at the Puerta de Toledo Campus of UC3M in Madrid and organized by the Carlos III University of Madrid.
The meeting focused on the Spanish Charter of Digital Rights, an innovative framework that defines how to protect citizens' rights in digital environments and guides future policies, prioritizing people's dignity, privacy, and security.
During the session “Digital Environments and Power,” Gorka Espiau reflected on digitization and democratic sovereignty, while Itziar Moreno presented “Social Digital Twins,” highlighting how this technology allows social dynamics to be modeled and the impacts of decisions in virtual environments to be explored.
The seminar concluded with debates on the digitization of public administration and the protection of citizens' rights, bringing together national and international experts to identify actions that reinforce the impact of the Charter and move towards a more inclusive, secure, and respectful digital society.
