Julia Martínez Barbero is a Project Manager at ALC and a PhD candidate at EHU, where her research focuses on the design and implementation of experimentation portfolios to support socio-environmental transitions.


She has led the work with the COPOLAD III programme and the European Union, contributing to the innovation of drug policy design in Latin America and the Caribbean; with UNDP in Uruguay, Jordan, and Syria; and the centre’s work on just transition processes in partnership with Iberdrola and itdUPM in regions such as Asturias and Palencia.


Currently, she coordinates research on the social impact of Basque public policies on science, technology and innovation, in collaboration with the Vice-Ministry of Science and Innovation of the Basque Government. In parallel, she leads the center's care strategy, facilitating collaborative processes to rethink community-based care models at the local level and in partnership with third sector organisations in Spain, including Acción Contra el Hambre and CESAL.


She began her professional career as Project Coordinator at the Spanish Network for Sustainable Development and UNetxea. Julia holds a degree in International Relations and Law from the University of Deusto and a postgraduate degree in Strategic Sustainable Development from the Blekinge Institute of Technology (Sweden).
