On March 10, 2026, Agirre Lehendakaria Center, in collaboration with Telesforo Monzon eLab, organized a strategic working day entitled “Etorkizuneko Euskal Burujabetza” (Basque Sovereignty in the Future). The main objective of the meeting was to define a shared framework for addressing the challenges facing Basque society in the coming decades.
A roadmap for sustainable development
The workshop was structured around various round tables that allowed for reflection on the level of sovereignty necessary to build a model of sustainable human development. The debates focused on three fundamental areas:
-Current analysis: The “why” and “what for” of sovereignty in the contemporary context were explored.
-Innovation and experimentation: An ideas laboratory was presented, aimed at a new portfolio of experimentation with concrete examples.
-New infrastructures: The creation of alliances between institutions and the community was discussed, as well as the importance of data and territory.
The seminar not only sought answers, but also raised critical questions for the roadmap of Basque society: What major challenges will we face in the coming decades? What tools and new infrastructures must we equip ourselves with to respond to these challenges?
The event concluded with a round table dedicated to conclusions and next steps.
